Understanding User Status

In this article, we explain the different user status categories you may encounter in your system, specifically, Locked, and Invited. Understanding these statuses helps you manage user access and security effectively.

Locked

A user with a Locked status has had their account temporarily disabled, typically due to multiple failed login attempts or suspicious activity. This status is a security measure to prevent unauthorized access after repeated failed login attempts.

  • Why is this important?

Locking an account helps protect against brute-force attacks and unauthorized access attempts. The account owner or admin will need to unlock the account after confirming the issue has been resolved.

  • What does this mean for the user?

The user cannot log in or access their account until it is unlocked by an admin or after the lockout period expires. We do not publicly disclose the lockout period.

Invited

If a user is in the Invited status, their account has not yet been fully activated. This typically occurs when a user has registered but still needs to confirm their email address or complete an activation step.

  • Why is this important?

This status ensures that only confirmed and verified users have access to the system. It helps maintain the integrity of your user database.

  • What does this mean for the user?

The user will not be able to access the system until they complete the activation process. They may receive an activation email with instructions.

By understanding these statuses, you can ensure that users have the right level of security and access.
